The GALA Foundation believes that after-school activities play a significant role in shaping a child’s life. The GALA Foundation wants to ensure the foster children of Mecklenburg County have that opportunity. We will coordinate with the Department of Social Services to provide the children in care with after-school activities near the child’s foster placements. Our short-term objective is to provide funding for one week of an after-school activity for all of the abused and neglected children in foster care. Our long-term goal is to establish a sustainable fund to be able to provide small grants for foster children who may need financial help with extracurricular activities.
